WHAT WE TREAT

With an array of non-invasive interventions, Medanta specialises in providing comprehensive renal care, treatment for all disorders associated with the prostate, bladder, kidney, or urinary tract including:

Prostate is a small, walnut-shaped gland that is responsible for producing seminal fluid. When cancer cells start to develop in a man’s prostate, there is mostly a difficulty in urination, but sometimes there are no symptoms whatsoever.

Kidney stones are hard deposits, which form inside the kidney, and vary in size and number. When passing through the urinary tract, the stones can cause a lot of pain, but not any permanent damage.

Kidney transplant or renal transplant is the organ transplant of a kidney into a patient with end-stage kidney disease. Kidney transplant is typically classified as deceased-donor or living-donor transplantation depending on the source of the donor organ.

A longstanding disease that might ultimately lead to a renal failure can be categorized as a chronic kidney disease. This disease does not have any symptoms as such, and is diagnosed through a blood test. Often, a kidney transplant is required in such a case.

Adrenal cancer is a condition that occurs when abnormal cells form in or travel to the adrenal glands. It is advisable that the patient gets the adrenal glands removed through surgery before cancer spreads to other parts of the body.

Also known as renal failure, kidney failure is a condition in which the kidneys lose their ability to remove waste and balance fluids, and everything gets accumulated in the blood. The two main forms are acute kidney injury, which is often reversible with adequate treatment, and chronic kidney disease, which is often not reversible.

This common infection can happen anywhere in the urinary tract of a human body. The urinary tract includes urethra, kidneys, ureters and bladder. The most common UTI occurs in urethra and bladder. The disease is considered to be as life-threatening when the bacteria move from urinary tract to the blood.

OUR CUTTING-EDGE TECHNOLOGY AND TREATMENT

Nephrologists at Medanta use innovative and minimally invasive methods to treat complex kidney related problems.

One of the key technologies employed at the centre is the DaVinci robotic system, which allows surgeons to execute delicate and complex surgeries through a few small incisions. In comparison to traditional surgical methods, the DaVinci surgery results in less blood loss and fewer transfusions.Dialysis is used to carry out the basic functions of a person’s kidneys when they stop working properly. Dialysis filters and then purifies the blood using a machine. If a person does not opt for dialysis after his/her kidney’s fails to function, waste products including salt get accumulated in the blood and poison the body.

Uses an externally-applied, focused, high- intensity acoustic pulse to break a urinary or kidney stone into small pieces that can more easily travel through the urinary tract and pass out with urine in a few days or weeks. It is usually an outpatient procedure and takes about an hour to do. Sedatives or anaesthetics may be used for patient comfort.

A cutting-edge imaging and 3D navigation system that serves as a comprehensive platform for prostate biopsy management. The device can employ information from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in conjunction with a standard ultrasound-guided biopsy. The system improves the precision, robustness, and dependability of executing an MRI/US Fusion-Targeted Biopsy by using robotic principles that resemble the physician's arm.

An artificial urinary sphincter (AUS) mimics the biological urinary sphincter by providing a competent bladder outlet during urinary storage and an open unobstructed outlet to permit voluntary voiding.

Urethrotomy is a surgery that removes bodily tissues from the urethra in order to relieve a stricture. The urethrotome is an endoscopic device used by the OIU. In addition to the urethrotome, a sharp knife is used to make an incision in the urethra. Any undesirable tissues in the urethra are removed during this procedure.

Nephroureterectomy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure, performed to remove the renal pelvis, ureter, kidney, and the bladder cuff of the patient. It is most commonly performed on patients with a cancer in their kidney.
